Abstract: Virulence of Metarhizium microcapsule suspensions against the 2nd-instar larvae of Ceracris kiangsu was determined by quantitative spraying method in the laboratory. In the forest, microcapsule powder was tested for the control of C. kiangsu larvaeand the impact on Epicauta ruficeps, a natural enemy of C. kiangsu. Metarhizium microcapsule suspension at 10 µg conidia/mL showed high insecticidal activity against the 2nd-instars of C. Kiangsu, with LT50 of 4.56 d and cadaver rate of 93.67%. The control of C. kiangsu was 92.59% after 30 days of treatment by microcapsule powder. No significant influence of the microcapsule powder on E. ruficeps was observed Therefore, Metarhizium microcapsule has great potential in the biological control of C. kiangsu.
